In 2021 I started the parttime screenwriting education at Scenario Vakschool in Amsterdam and I will graduate in January 2024. During this time of writing different scripts and learning about all the techniques and history of filmmaking I have been focussing on self study when it comes down to directing because that’s my other passion. I decided to produce and direct my first short film that I had written during my screenwriting education. It was an incredible ride and on of the most valuable learning processes in my life. This short movie is a first step towards many and it is forming the base of the stories and visuals that I want to tell. Psychological stories, that will give people empathy, recognition but also confrontation, based in worlds that look like ours but are slightly different, worlds, societies, regimes that are maybe happening in countries nowadays that we are not always consciously aware of, or worlds that might becoming truth in our near future. Because I am a dancer first, I am diving deep into research how to bring dance into movies when it is not about the dance itself, but to have it as a supporting part just as dialogue is.
